Trend Alert: How To Wear Statement Tops

Posted In: My Outfits

This season is all about making a statement and statement tops are the perfect way to add drama to your outfit and break out from the clothing monotony.

You probably already noticed tops with exaggerated balloon sleeves, wide cuffs or huge ruffles in many high street shops, it is the hottest trend at the moment. These tops are a total mood-lifter and they are much easier to wear than you think.

As I mentioned many many times I am obsessed about off-the-shoulder or one shoulder tops. It is the easiest way to expose some skin without looking tacky and I absolutely love a little shoulder action. So when I came across this one shoulder top with dramatic ruffles from STYLEKEEPERS I immediately fell in love with it.

When it comes to dramatic tops the easiest way to wear them is to pair with a simple bottom. I chose to wear it with my new favourite pair of ripped jeans with pearl embellishments. I also advice to stick to one colour scheme – as my top contains two colours, blue and white, I am wearing only light shades of blue and white accessories. You don’t want to look too busy and you want to keep the statement top the main focal point.

Shop The Look

This is without a doubt one of my favourite looks of this season. It looks casual enough to wear it everyday but also dressy and glamorous at the same time, making the overall look so effortlessly chic.

I’ve seen lots of ruffles around and I wasn’t too sure when I first saw them. But having tried them on, they actually look so much better on, than when they are on the hanger. This is a beautiful top and a great look!

This reminds me a bit of the top Michelle Obama wore on their holiday to Italy. I love it! It’s simple but glam too 🙂

I do like a good flouncy top, always great with the simple bottoms. Your outfit is fab. I do worry a little about the big ruffles up top, as I have fairly wide shoulders, but the off the shoulder idea is much more flattering, I have a top by Star JM that is a good example of this. Adore your sandals too, very chic.

I love this top on you but I find as I have very broad shoulders the off the shoulder tops don’t look right on me x

Love this top. It has and gives a drama to the outfit. Very stylish. I’ve seen lots similar in the shops recently, but this one looks great on and gives me the confidence to give it a whirl. Thanks. Kate x

Great photos! The whole off the shoulder fashion doesn’t do it for me, I just feel really uncomfortable – but you look lovely!
