How To Wear Tweed Without Looking Outdated

Posted In: My Outfits

Do you consider wearing tweed a bit old-fashioned or only suited for country pursuits? Once an old and outdated fashion trend is back with a bang.

Habitually reserved for Upper East Side princesses and glamorous grannies, tweed has never exactly had a cool reputation. But that’s all changed this season – the heritage fabric got a high-fashion makeover this season. Despite its high-end designer associations, many high-street brands are embracing the warm and flattering texture of tweed.

The beauty of tweed is that is sits perfectly to form a smart and tailored silhouette but its woolly knit substance means it works perfectly in an off-duty edit, too.

Styling Tip

Look for raw edges and contrasting panels to keep your look modern.

Whether you invest in a lifetime piece from a designer name or pick from Zara’s dense new collection, make sure you add a tweed piece to your autumn wardrobe for modern ladylike look.

I’m so outdated that I wouldn’t even call this tweed – it looks like a flecked knitted dress to me. Tweed has a defined pattern that’s woven, not knitted, doesn’t it? What do I know though, I don’t follow fashion. Whatever it is, it’s a lovely looking dress and you wear it well!
