This season it’s all about shoulders making off-the-shoulder tops the hottest pieces of this summer. The elegant neckline easily transforms any simple summer look to a topnotch, effortlessly cool ensemble. Unlike legs or stomachs, shoulders are actually an easy area to expose.
It’s a very easy trend to wear, there is a style for every body shape. You can go off the shoulder entirely if you a smaller bust. You can even wear it if you have broad shoulders just in this case go for tops with shoulder cut-touts. It’s no doubt very sexy trend yet very subtle and elegant and suitable for any occasion.
High street shops are filled with iterations of this pretty trend and there are so many different styles – from boho chic to crisp clean lines to choose from. Off-the-shoulder trend is definitely my favourite trend for this season – exposing shoulders for me is looking sexy in a sophisticated, old-school glamour kind of way.
I just recently came across Los Angeles based brand Re:named which creates clothes for feminine, funky, and fashion-forward ladies and when I saw this off-the-shoulder I instantly fell in love with it. I love the bright colours and clean lines, it’s such a modern and trendy piece. I paired it with my favourite white jeans to make colours pop up even more and my favourite Sophia Webster heels to create a very youthful, trendy yet feminine and elegant look.
Where to wear it?
Usually off-the-shoulder tops are associated with holiday wear but now they are so popular that you can see them everywhere. If you want to wear them in the city and look more formal I would recommend to pair off-the-shoulder tops with trousers, jeans or maxi skirts. You don’t want to expose too much of your body – make your shoulders the focal point of the outfit.
It’s a youthful, trendy yet feminine and elegant look so I wear it at parties or when I am meeting my friends for cocktails. It’s also a great summer look for a date. I wear this outfit when I want to look stylish but not too dressed up, when I want to look fabulous but not too “done up”.
