2018 is finally here and if you are anything like me, you’ve probably already set a few goals for this year but how to make sure you actually achieve them? How many times you have started a new year with a vision of a better and more successful life but you never actually started implementing your goals to make sure your visions and dreams become a reality?
I personally love having new beginnings and January is actually one of my favourite months. It’s an arbitrary clean slate, a time to believe and dream again, and an opportunity to improve and clean up all the messes we made in the previous year. I believe it is important to utilise this month to optimise the entire year so I wanted to share 3 easy steps to make sure this year will be the best year yet.
#1 Start with Self-reflection
I’m a big believer that in order to start your year on the right foot you need to pause, reflect, and set the right intentions for the new year. I start with asking myself the following questions:
What were my best achievements this year?
How have I developed or changed as a person?
What am I really proud of?
What activities left your drained and burned out?
If you had a chance what would you do differently?
What are you not currently doing which you know you would love to do?
#2 Set Goals
In order to end 2018 feeling fulfilled, accomplished and empowered, it requires you to enter the year with a powerful vision and strong intentions for who you want to be and what you seek to create. Just by writing down the things you want to make happen, you program yourself to work towards them, and this means your intentions are way more likely to come to life! If you don’t know what you want to achieve, guess what you are not going to achieve it.
Start with identifying key big picture goals – you can set separate goals in different areas of your life – career, personal development, relationships, family, money. Make sure at least one of the big-ticket items on this list is something that terrifies you—if you accomplish little else in 2018, doing this one thing will make you feel like the year mattered. Then break down each goal into smaller goals and set dates by when you would like to achieve them. This will help you stayed focused.
#3 Give Yourself a Permission to Invest in Yourself
The core issue for so many women is about SELF-PERMISSION… So many women I meet are struggling to make themselves priority and find some time for self-love and self-care. But all big changes start with changing yourself you the truth is that there is no investment that will give better returns that investing in yourself. You need to be in tip top shape, mind body and soul, in order to show up as your best self in order to achieve your goals.
If you need to develop new skills, become more confident, feel better about yourself it’s time to start working on it. When you have a little financial skin in the game you are much more likely to seriously commit to something. Start thinking what can you invest in to move you closer to reaching your goals this year?
What are your goals for this year?
